"Dragon Family" actor: There are too many sex scenes in it

While there are many differences between Game of Thrones and its upcoming prequel House of the Dragon, series star Matt Smith says one constant is that House of the Dragon also has a lot of sex.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Smith said the sex scenes his character participated in were "a little too much".

“You do find yourself asking, ‘Do we need another sex scene?’ And they say, ‘Yes, we do.’ I think you have to ask yourself, ‘What are you doing? Are you representing the book, or are you diluting the novel to represent the times [we live in]?’ I think it’s your job, actually, to present what’s in the book truthfully and honestly.”

The HBO original series Game of Thrones has also been criticized for its level of nudity. Actress Gemma Whelan, who plays Yara Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, called the show's sex scenes "a wild mess." Emilia Clarke said she would not do nude scenes again after Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, a story originally published in 2018. Smith will play Prince Daemon Targaryen, one of the main players in the conflict during "A Dance with the Dragons," which takes place hundreds of years before "Game of Thrones."
