The Walking Dead series Rick will air next year on a love story set in the apocalypse

Four years ago, AMC announced that it would continue to tell the story of Rick Grimes, the protagonist of "The Walking Dead", in the form of a trilogy of TV movies. At the San Diego Comic-Con booth this weekend, AMC finally officially announced this plan. The good news is that the plan to tell Rick Grimes' story is still there, but the bad news is that this plan is very different from the original description. In 2023, AMC will tell the story of Rick and Michonne in the form of a six-episode mini-TV series.

Andrew Lincoln's last role in The Walking Dead was in 2018, and his fate has been undecided. In the following season, Dana Gurira also left the show, and her character Michonne was set to embark on a journey to find Rick. In the newly announced mini-series, both Lincoln and Gurira will return.

In the press release, AMC introduced that the love story of Rick and Michonne will be the main content of the show. "The show presents a touching love story of two characters in the end of the world. They are separated by an irresistible force. Trapped by their own past, Rick and Michonne enter another different world and start a war with zombies. In the end, the opponents of this war are changed to living people. Can they find each other and recognize themselves in the unprecedented situation? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Winners? After separation, can they still survive, or will they find that each other has become the walking dead?"

AMC said the show will "start with six episodes", which means it may continue to be filmed if the effect is good.
