HBO Max's sci-fi American drama "Alien" was canceled after two seasons. According to Variety, HBO Max confirmed that they will not produce a third season and thanked those who made the first two seasons possible. An HBO Max spokesperson said: "While we will not be renewing Alien for a third season, we are deeply grateful to the amazing cast and crew, our creators Aaron Guzikowski, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, and the entire team at Scott Free Productions for their beautiful artistry and unique ability to immerse fans in the world of Kepler-22b." "Alien" was originally developed for TNT and later went to HBO Max. Four months before it was renewed for a second season, HBO said "Alien" was "the best-performing HBO Max original since the platform launched." Although the story of "Alien" was cut before it was completed, some people hope that it can find a new home, including Abubakar Salim, the actor who played the father robot in the play. Salim also posted a "call to action" on Reddit, hoping that Alien can find a new home. He also pointed out that after "all this merger news and what's going on at Warner Bros," the cancellation is not too surprising. He believes Alien still has a chance of survival. |
