Today, January 25, the Japan Film Producers Association held a press conference and announced the 2021 movie box office rankings. The top three were all animated films, with "Neon Genesis Evangelion: End of Evangelion" topping the list with 10.28 billion yen.

•According to statistics, Japan's total movie box office in 2021 increased by 13% compared with the total in 2020, to approximately 161.893 billion yen, and the total number of moviegoers also increased slightly by 8.2% compared with the same period last year, to 114.828 million people.

•However, looking at the overall situation, affected by the new crown epidemic, the box office revenue of cinemas in 2021 was the second lowest in more than 20 years since 2000. Among the top 10, the top three are all animated films, and the fourth place is a documentary about the super popular idol group "Arashi".
