Depp to play French King Louis XV in new film

Johnny Depp will star in an untitled new film directed and acted by French female director Maiwen (My King), in which he plays the French King Louis XV!

The film's title and plot have not yet been revealed. It will start shooting this summer and is expected to take three months in Paris, mainly at the Palace of Versailles. Director McEwen will personally play the Countess du Barry, the famous mistress of Louis XV.

Louis XV, also known as "Louis the Favorite", was the great-grandson of Louis XIV, the Sun King, the son of Louis, Duke of Burgundy, and the fourth king of the French Bourbon dynasty (reigned from 1715 to 1774). He was loved by the French people in the early days of his reign. However, his inability to reform the French monarchy and his appeasement policy in Europe made him lose the support of the people, and after his death he became one of the most unpopular kings in France.

In the later years of Louis XV's reign, court life was decadent, and the economic problems of Louis XIV were not well solved. Although he survived a disaster as a child, he eventually died of smallpox in 1774. It is said that "After my death, I don't care about the flood" is the "famous saying" left by Louis XV.
