The director of Shang-Chi will return to direct Shang-Chi 2, focusing on the underrepresented groups

According to a recent report by Deadline, Marvel has confirmed that it will film the sequel to Shang-Chi, Shang-Chi 2, with director Destin Cretton returning to direct. Shang-Chi grossed $418 million worldwide, ranking 8th on the annual global box office list.

Destin Clayton has signed a multi-year exclusive overall cooperation agreement with Marvel and Hulu Streaming to create multiple film and television projects, including "Shang-Chi 2", aiming to focus on "the experiences of groups that have traditionally been ignored by popular culture."

“Destin is an exceptional collaborator who brings a unique perspective and craft to Shang-Chi,” said Marvel President Kevin Feige. “We had a great time working together on this film, and he has many interesting ideas for bringing stories to life on Disney+. We are excited to expand our relationship and look forward to working together in the future.”

After Shang-Chi was released in North America in September 2021, word of mouth was severely polarized. Domestic audiences generally did not look favorably upon the film, believing that it was a film that borrowed Chinese elements but did not understand Chinese culture.
