The membership fees, advertising and other issues of the nine major domestic video and audio platforms represented by iQiyi, Youku and Tencent have been complained by netizens. They were summoned by the consumer protection department last year and some problems have been rectified. Recently, the Zhejiang Consumer Protection Committee summoned these platforms again and announced the latest rectification situation. According to the 21st Century Business Herald, the Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee recently summoned the heads of five platforms, including iQiyi, Youku, Tencent Video, Sohu, and PPTV, as well as four video and audio websites, including Mango TV, LeTV, Himalaya, and蜻蜓FM. Of the seven rectification requirements put forward by the Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee last year, the two audio websites have completed the rectification, and the seven video websites have completed three of the rectifications, namely, setting up an automatic renewal check box, providing advance reminders for automatic renewal, and no longer using absolute promotional terms such as "become a member to get no ads". Issues that have not been thoroughly rectified include: insufficient prior and subsequent notification of members' advertising privileges, complicated procedures for canceling automatic renewal, members have to pay extra to watch some TV series and movies, there are restrictions on viewing time, members cannot recharge according to the price of the film, and the recharge amount is fixed. In this year's "looking back" consumption experience, a new problem is that after becoming a member, there are still advertisements, which makes it easy to miss and difficult to quit. After becoming a member of iQiyi, Youku, Tencent Video, Sohu, and PPTV, you can still see a variety of advertisements, such as summary ads, pause page ads, end-of-credits ads, pop-up ads, and marquee ads. Some advertising pages are very easy to click accidentally. After jumping to the advertising page, the return key is set small and extremely difficult to find. The Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee requires that all platforms must take the above-mentioned problems seriously and promptly rectify them. The platforms must submit a written rectification report before November 12. On November 12, the reporter learned from the Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee that iQiyi, Youku, Tencent Video, Sohu Video, PPTV, Mango TV, and LeTV have submitted rectification reports on schedule. Regarding the five membership service issues mentioned in the Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee's meeting on November 5, the seven video websites responded one by one and put forward corresponding rectification measures. On November 19, seven days after seven video websites submitted rectification reports on member service issues, the Zhejiang Provincial Consumer Protection Committee made public the rectification commitments and progress of each video website, and invited consumers to supervise together. |
