Recently (November 10), according to Sina Film, mainland China has confirmed that Zhang Yimou's "On the Cliff" will compete for the Best International Film at this year's Oscars. The film stars Zhang Yi, Yu Hewei, Qin Hailu, Zhu Yawen, Liu Haocun, Ni Dahong, Li Naiwen, etc., and will be released in China on April 30 this year.

Previously, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan, China respectively selected "Mom's Wonder Boy" directed by Yin Zhiwen and "Waterfalls" directed by Zhong Menghong to compete for the 94th Academy Award for Best International Film.

"On the Cliff" is a spy film directed by Zhang Yimou, starring Zhang Yi, Yu Hewei, Qin Hailu, Zhu Yawen, Liu Haocun, Ni Dahong, Li Naiwen, Yu Ailei, Feifan, Lei Jiayin, Sha Yi, and Rui Danny. It tells the story of agents fighting wits and courage with the enemy and carrying out secret operations under severe tests. It was released in mainland China on April 30, 2021.
