DC to release Blue Beetle, the first superhero movie with a Latino protagonist

Warner will launch a solo movie for the DC superhero "Blue Beetle" and has recently selected a director - Angel Manuel Soto, who directed the well-received new film "Blue Beetle" at last year's Sundance Film Festival. The filming is expected to start this fall.

The film will be the first DC superhero movie with a Latino protagonist. It is written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Congeniality, the new version of Scarface) and focuses on Jaime Reyes, the third generation Blue Beetle. He is a Mexican teenager living in Texas. He picked up a blue scarab and transplanted it into his spine, becoming a superhero with armor and the ability to create weapons at will. The blue beetle can fly, has enhanced strength and endurance, and can translate alien languages.
