The first Chinese trailer for Warner Bros.' live-action adaptation of Minecraft has been released, allowing fans to officially see this live-action adaptation for the first time. The film stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black and others, is directed by Jared Hess, and will be released in North America on April 4, 2025.

Jack Black plays Steve, a handcrafting expert who is also a playable character in the game Minecraft. Other stars joining the cast include Emma Myers (Wednesday), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Just Mercy), and Jennifer Coolidge.

The story tells the story of four "misfits" - "garbage man" Garrett Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) - who come to the world of "Minecraft" and must protect the world from pigmen and zombies while embarking on a journey home.

Here is the official introduction:

Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity not only helps you craft, it’s essential to your survival! Four misfits – Garrison “Garbage Man”, Henry, Natalie and Dawn – find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they’re suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into “Otherworld”: a bizarre cubic wonderland where survival depends on imagination. To get home, they must master this world (and protect it from evil creatures like piglins and zombies) while embarking on a magical expedition with an unlikely crafting expert, Steve (Blake). Their adventure will challenge the five to get up close and personal with their own unique creative talents… a skill they’ll need to thrive in the real world.
