"ToHeart2 adplus" is one of the OVA series of the popular romance simulation game "ToHeart2" originally created by AQUAPLUS, and was released in 2009. This OVA further deepens the worldview of the game, making it an indispensable work for fans. Below, we will evaluate this work in detail from various perspectives, including the story, characters, production, and music.

story

"ToHeart2 adplus" is made up of two episodes, each with a different story. The first episode, "My First Errand," sees the maid robot Silpha go shopping for ingredients to make the protagonist Takaaki her "Deadly Curry." As Silpha is shy and has little experience going out, this episode is a heartwarming tale of her growth and challenges. With the arrival of the mysterious transfer student Harumi, Silpha's first errand develops into a battle for the recipe, making for a fascinating mix of humor and emotion.

The second episode, "Summer Mood," depicts the story of Sasamori Karin, who is searching for Takaaki's entry form. Karin's earnest and meticulous personality is well expressed, and it is a touching story that depicts her efforts and friendship. Both episodes make full use of the characters' personalities and leave a deep impression on the viewers.

character

In "ToHeart2 adplus," the main characters from the game also play an active role in the OVA. Silfa's growth and struggles in particular are points that capture the hearts of viewers. Sakurai Hiromi's performance as Silfa is also excellent, bringing out the character's charm to the fullest. Yamakawa Kotomi, who plays Kono Harumi, and Hagiwara Emiko, who plays Ilfa, also express the individuality of their respective characters well, and the acting ability of the cast enhances the quality of the work.

Jun Fukuyama, who plays the main character Takaaki Kono, continues from the game with his stable acting, providing a character that viewers can easily relate to. In addition, other characters such as Shizuka Itou as Tamaki Kosaka and Yurika Ochiai as Konomi Yuhara also have strong personalities, and the overall well-balanced cast supports the work.

Director Sakata has succeeded in faithfully recreating the worldview of the game while adding a new perspective unique to OVA. In particular, the detailed depiction of the characters' expressions and movements is an important element in evoking the emotions of the viewer.

The animation character designs were handled by Masahide Yanagisawa, Kenichiro Katsura, and Yasuhisa Kato, who have inherited the beauty of the original character designs while adding the unique charm of the OVA. Art directors Manabu Otsuzuki and Hiroshi Ito also paid particular attention to the background and color settings, pursuing visual beauty. Thanks to the efforts of these staff members, "ToHeart2 adplus" has achieved a very high level of visual quality.

music

The music for "ToHeart2 adplus" was composed by Naoya Shimokawa and Junya Matsuoka of AQUAPLUS, and while it continues the music from the game, it also adds new songs that are unique to the OVA. In particular, the opening theme "Rainbow Bridge" and the ending theme "What You Left Behind" feature Rena Uehara's singing voice that touches the heart and livens up the atmosphere of the work. In addition, the inserted song "Rainbow Bridge Samba Mood Woo! Ver." is a duet between Sasara and Maryan, creating a fun atmosphere.
