Lucas fired lead actress of The Mandalorian for inappropriate comments

According to foreign media io9, Gina Carano, who played the rebel soldier Cara Dune in the "Star Wars" spin-off "The Mandalorian", has been fired by Lucasfilm.

A Lucasfilm spokesperson told io9: “Gina Carano is no longer employed by Lucasfilm and we have no plans to have her join in the future. However, her social media posts that denigrate others based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Carano has been the target of criticism recently for comparing being a modern Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust in a now-deleted Instagram post. The hashtag #FireGinaCarano has trended on Twitter in recent months following other comments from Carano.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lucasfilm had plans in December for Carano to star in her own Star Wars series, but those plans were also scrapped following Carano's November tweet.

In addition, Carano was also dropped as a client by UTA United Elite Agency.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Carano has been against wearing masks in public, and has also alluded to the "election fraud" conspiracy theory of the 2020 US election.
