James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and director of the new "Superman" movie, has released the first complete makeup photo of the new generation of "Superman". David Corensway will play the Man of Steel. Gunn posted the photo on social platform Threads, telling fans to "get ready" for the premiere on July 11, 2025, while fully revealing David Corenceway's Superman look. In the picture, Superman appears to be sitting in a skyscraper in Metropolis, leisurely pulling up his boots, while something earth-shattering is happening. While this will be a brand new Superman in a brand new DC Universe, the costume itself doesn't look new, with the sacred S-symbol and its arm appearing dirty or faded. While we've seen the logo before, the new image shows off the entire costume and gives fans more fodder to speculate on Gunn's inspirations ahead of the film's release. Comparison of Superman and David versions of Superman's suits Although the "Superman" movie was previously named "Superman: Legacy", as the first movie of the first chapter of the rebooted DC universe "Gods and Monsters", it is definitely not an origin story and will also include a large number of other DC heroes and villains. This suggests that the film will cut directly into Clark Kent's established life as Superman and potentially explore his existing relationships with other superheroes and villains. |
