"Top Gun 2" script rewritten, "Mission Impossible 6" director joins

Mission: Impossible 6: Fallout has achieved great success worldwide. In addition to Cruise's life-threatening performance, director Christopher McQuarrie also contributed greatly. The close cooperation between the two has also continued in another series of movies. Christopher McQuarrie will rewrite the script of Top Gun 2: Maverick, which will be the 10th cooperation between the two.

In an interview with foreign media, Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie revealed this news. Although most of the script work for Top Gun 2 has been completed, McQuarrie will rewrite the script after joining the team. The original script was completed by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, and Eric Singer.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. McQuarrie once joined the "Edge of Tomorrow" team as a screenwriter and collaborated with Tom Cruise, and eventually this science fiction film became a huge success.

"Top Gun 2" is directed by Joseph Kosinski, who has worked with Cruise in "Oblivion". The plot of the film has not yet been made public, and the story may focus on a new generation of pilots played by Miles Teller, who is the son of Cruise's comrade-in-arms and whose father died in an accident.

Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris will continue to play their roles in the first film. In addition, Glen Powell, Val Kilmer, Lewis Pullman and others have also joined the film's cast. "Top Gun 2: Maverick" will be released on June 26, 2020.
