The American cable channel Showtime has recently publicly confirmed that the live-action American TV series of the Xbox series masterpiece "Halo" will officially start broadcasting in 2020. Showtime's president of programming Gary Levine described the series as a "huge undertaking," while president and CEO David Nevins said it was "our most ambitious series to date." "While it took a long time to get the script, we felt there was something really interesting in it, something that fit the Showtime attitude in terms of character depth, and it would be a high-budget TV series," Nevins said in a press release. "We made a conscious decision to hire a writer who wasn't known for his sci-fi work and big war movies because those are elements that are already built into the Halo franchise and we're going to serve that." "But we also wanted to make sure that we could really go into and show the dramatic power of the team under the Spartan power armor, and make it a TV show that belongs on Showtime." While the extent of veteran director Steven Spielberg's involvement is unknown, he is attached to produce the project through his production company, Amblin Television. Production on the 10-episode first season has yet to begin, but Nevins praised writer and showrunner Kylie Killen for creating a "brilliant, expansive world." |
