James Wan's "Megan 2.0" is rescheduled! Return to the world of artificial intelligence horror

The sequel to the popular horror film "Megan", "Megan 2.0", has been postponed from January 17, 2025 to May 16 in North America. It is understood that in this sequel, the story will continue to explore the development and upgrading of horror dolls, and will enter a world belonging to artificial intelligence.

The story of Megan is relatively cliché, telling the story of a woman who is busy with other things and decides to entrust the raising of her children to a robot. Then things go to a situation where there is no end. The director's point is clear: despite the high efficiency of artificial intelligence, you still need to use it as a tool, not a guiding principle. Just as the software cannot capture and understand the subtleties of the human condition, the text generated by artificial intelligence cannot create content that satisfies movie fans. After the film was released, it received excellent word-of-mouth and box office, earning $180 million worldwide and costing $12 million to produce.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, James Wan revealed what they have created for the sequel, but admitted that it is still a long way to go before they can fully delve into the story. However, it can be said that the development of artificial intelligence and the popularity of platforms like Chat GPT will definitely be reflected in the story, as James Wan emphasized: "It's still early, but M3GAN will return in a bigger way. The first movie came at the right time (when people were worried about artificial intelligence), and we will definitely continue this in the next movie. We will explore the world of artificial intelligence further."
