Amazon MGM Studios is auditioning Lara Croft for the Tomb Raider series. According to Deadline, Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) and Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) are expected to audition for the role, which was previously played on the big screen by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. It's unclear who else will audition for the famous role, which has been kept secret throughout the process. In addition to Turner and Boyton, there are a number of other names on the list, including Emma Corrin and Mackenzie Davis, but neither will reportedly audition. A representative for Amazon's MGM studios declined to comment. Turner, who received her first Emmy nomination for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is currently starring in the British crime drama limited series Joan, and will next appear in another British series, Haven, which is also produced by Amazon Prime Video, and the original team of the Tomb Raider series. Boynton, known for her roles in Bohemian Rhapsody and Murder on the Orient Express, recently starred in Searchlight's The Greatest Hits and played the title role in the British historical miniseries A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story. Tomb Raider executive producers include Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins of Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson of dj2 Entertainment, Michael Scheel, and rights holders Legendary Television and Crystal Dynamics. Greenblatt and Andolina are consulting producers under Star Party. The series is produced by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios. |
