Today (February 15), ByteDance officially announced that the 4K restored version of "Havoc in Heaven" has been launched on Xigua Video, and viewers can watch it for free. This is the first time that AI technology has been used to restore this classic animation to 4K resolution. In the restoration of "Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons Strike Back in Heaven", ByteDance's technical team used AI technologies such as deep learning, supplemented by manual labeling, to efficiently improve the clarity while ensuring the artistic effect of the original film. The colorful animated feature film "Havoc in Heaven" has influenced several generations and is considered the "pinnacle" of Chinese animation history. In the early 1960s, the older generation of animation workers at the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio spent four years hand-painting more than 100,000 drawings. The original film was adapted from the first seven chapters of "Journey to the West" and was divided into two parts, which were completed in 1961 and 1964 respectively. ByteDance said that 36 classic animation works have been restored in 4K and are now available on Xigua Video. In the future, there will be dozens of classic animation 4K restored versions such as "Ginseng Kingdom", "I Love Singing" and "Cube Building", which will be released one after another. |
