According to Yahoo Japan, the famous cartoonist Takao Saito died of pancreatic cancer on September 24 at the age of 84. In addition, according to Saito Takao's will, Saito Production and the script staff will continue to cooperate to serialize "Golgoku 13". It is reported that "Golgoku 13" has been serialized in Shogakukan's "Big Comic" magazine since November 1968. It has been more than 50 years since then, and 201 volumes have been published as of July 2021.

"Golgo 13" is a work that follows the world trend and is mainly based on current events. The occurrence and causes of major and minor events have become the materials collected by Saito Takao. The world history of the past 30 years is clearly visible in "Golgo 13". So that people who read the comics can roughly understand the changes in the world, "Golgo 13" involves a large number of historical, political, economic, terrorism, organized crime, and natural disaster events. The protagonist uses "Golgo 13" as a code name, and is sometimes called "G". He calls himself "Sniper", "Death Shadow of the Sunset", and "Wave of Angry". He looks like an East Asian, with a balance ability and super will that can surprise Olympic coaches. This work is the fourth longest serialized work in the history of Japanese comics. As of 2017, the cumulative circulation of this work has exceeded 200 million copies.
