The film "Dungeons & Dragons" has completed filming and will be released in spring 2023

Filming on the Dungeons & Dragons movie has wrapped, director John Francis Daley announced on Twitter.

On the surface, the new Dungeons & Dragons movie goes all out to bring the best adaptation of the tabletop role-playing game to life. The cast includes A-list actors Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984), Michelle Rodriguez (The Fast & Furious franchise), Justice Smith (Detective Pikachu), and Reggie-Jean Page (Bridgerton).

Daly, best known for his role as Lance Sweet in Bones, has co-written the screenplay for Dungeons & Dragons and is co-directing with Jonathan Smith, best known for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Horrible Bosses, and Game Night, Collider reported.

The game Dungeons & Dragons was created in 1974 and has never lost its popularity in the 47 years since its release. In 2000, the first film adaptation hit theaters, starring Jeremy Irons, Marlon Wayans, and Thora Birch. The film was a commercial and critical failure, and was hated by both casual moviegoers and game fans.

Daly and Smith aren't the only ones working on an adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons. John Wick creator Derek Kolstad is directing a TV series inspired by the books. Since the series is being produced by Paramount, there will likely be some serious overlap between the film and the TV series.

Dungeons & Dragons is set to debut in the spring of 2023. Fans know very little about the direction and plot of the film, but we will learn more as time goes by.
