story

The year is 2131, and the world has just ended since the end of the non-nuclear war. A female soldier, Deunan, is taken from the war-torn Earth to the utopia of Olympus, where she is reunited with her ex-lover, Briareos, whose body has been largely mechanized. The two fight to protect the peace of Olympus and to uncover the truth hidden behind it. At the heart of the story is Deunan's wish to become a mother once the war is over.

Commentary

"Appleseed" is an animated film based on the popular comic by Masamune Shirow, which was made into an OVA in 1988.
