According to IGN, two Ana de Armas fans are suing Universal Pictures, claiming that Universal Pictures' film "Yesterday" was falsely advertised because the actress appeared in the movie trailer but was not in the final cut of the movie. The two fans, from California, said that after watching the trailer of "Yesterday", they paid a $3.99 rental fee to watch the movie on Amazon Prime, but later they found that Ana de Armas did not appear in the official version of the movie. So they sued Universal Pictures for false advertising and claimed $5 million on behalf of affected fans. The two fans claimed that Universal Pictures used Ana de Armas's popularity to attract people to buy and watch the movie. In the movie "Yesterday", Ana de Armas plays the role of Roxane, a lover who was introduced to the protagonist Malik on a talk show, but Ana de Armas's scenes were deleted in the official version. Screenwriter Richard Curtis explained that the audience did not like the protagonist Malik's love affair. Curtis said: "It was a very painful editing process because she did a great job in this regard. I mean it was really radiant. You know, this is one of our favorite scenes in the movie, but for the sake of the overall situation, we had to delete them." In the lawsuit, fans describe Ana de Armas as a "talented, successful and famous actress" and point to her roles in "Blade Runner 2049," "Knives Out" and "No Time to Die." |
